Survey on the Knowledge concerning Dental Health

Abstract
Fifteen questionnaires concerning the dental health were given to 652 Koreans whose ages ranged from 21 to 30 years old with an average education period of 9.1 years in order to obtain the information which would be applied to established a more concrete dental health education program.
The data showed:
1) The mass communication methods through books and nespapers were the most effective means of obtaining the knowledge.
2) Those who were aware of the fact that the man is born with good teeth were 37.9 percent of all sample subjects.
3) Those who were aware of the improtance of the deciduous teeth were less than 50 percent.
4) The incidence of dental caries and periodetal disease among these sample subjects which compiled form questionnaire were 67.7. and 54.7 percent respectively.
5) It appeared that the public does instance, 80.5 percent of the sample subject did not know about the role of fluoride in the prevention of dental caries.
6) Most of the sameple subjects were aware of the importance of preventive practice rather than therapeutic one. It also appeared that the mass education problem was more important than the individual tretment.
